Celebration of the 28th Anniversary of the Dr. Reijntjes School for the Deaf
On February 28th we celebrated the 28th Anniversary of the Dr. Reijntjes School for the Deaf. For a long time the deaf pupils where doing their dance exercises to perform well at the celebration of the 28th anniversary of the School. Special for this occasion 3 Board Members of the Dr. Reijntjes Foundation from the Netherlands with well wishers (total 14 people) came to Sri Lanka. The show was planned in the school garden from 7 to 9 p.m. The whole school garden was decorated with lights and the round tables with chairs for the visitors were ready. Unfortunately one hour before it should start it started raining. We had to shift everything to the auditorium! The chief guest was the Dutch Ambassador Mr. Louis Piet. He was lighting the oil lamp with the other special guests from the Netherlands: Mrs. Faffie Reijntjes, Dr. Robert Jan Reijntjes, Mr. Bill Engbers etc. and from Sri Lanka the Board Members of the Trust. Everybody was enthusiast and touched by the excellence dance performance of the deaf pupils. The dinner buffet could later be held in the colourful school garden, as the rain had stopped!.
