School Trip to Kandy on July 6th, 2011
August 4, 2011, 7:34 AM
In June two Dutch volunteers, Matthijs (he is born deaf) and Esther (an interpreter) arrived in our Deaf School to help the deaf children.
In the Netherlands they collected money to take all the deaf students and staff members on a school trip.
When we were planning where to go, we found that a big group of the deaf pupils never visited Kandy. Therefore they decided to go to Kandy, an important City in the Central Hills.
With 2 big busses we started the long journey at 6 am. In Kandy we visited the famous “Temple of the Tooth” and the new Museum which was opened 2 months ago. In the afternoon, after the lunch, we went to the famous Peradeniya Gardens.
By the time we arrived back in Moratuwa it was 9.30 p.m. The next day the pupils were drawing their beautiful impressions of Kandy for Matthijs and Esther, to take it to the sponsors in the Netherlands.
