New Dancing Project with NATANDA. (Professional dancers)
July 28, 2011, 6:29 AM
From June 2010 the deaf pupils of the Dr. Reijntjes School for the Deaf get professional dance training.
NATANDA is a group of professional dancers who are very famous in Sri Lanka and abroad. Their Artistic Director and Founder is Kapila Palihawadana , who got his first dance training in Sri Lanka. As he was very original and excellent in his performances, he got a scholarship to go to Germany for special dance training.
This is the first time the NATANDA Group will train deaf children in unique performances, where communication and sign language is a part of the dances.
All the 100 deaf children of the Deaf School get the chance to participate in the dances. In March next year we plan some performances of these dances in theaters in Colombo.
